Website-Watcher makes Windows 7 x64 build 7057 hang...
also fails with non beta of wsw.
Have about 1000 links and are checking 150 hotlists at once.
Connections... are set to default.
Wsw checks all sites without a problem but when you touch the wsw screen or try to shutdown windows, everything hangs.
Music keeps playing tho, it looks like only the screen (everything, not only wsw, mouse too) freezes and everything still works...
Regards

| Same problem here with WIndows 7. My locks up 1/2 way through a Autocheck. The whole PC just hangs. |

We only have Windows 7 (32bit) where everything seems to work fine.
1. Does it only happen when you check a larger amount of bookmarks, or also with 10 bookmarks, 50 bookmarks, etc?
2. Is there probably a specific bookmark that causes this problem? Probably you can try to check another set of bookmarks with the follow-links feature to see if you have the same behavior then?
3. Is the internal browser opened when WSW hangs? If yes, does it only happen with a specific page?
4. Which status does the task manager show for WSW? Is WSW consuming CPU? If yes, how much percent? _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Will test all points and report back!

Hi Martin,
I'm running 32 Bit. I also have IE 8 installed and it seems to happen only on bookmarks with Macros (although I have not 100% confirmed this).
It's very odd. The PC locks up, mouse/keyboard frozen but the hard disk is still flashing with activity. |

Found the site that crashes wsw:
Dial-a-fix
http://djlizard.net/
Only when i add it to a clean wsw it does not crash.
Opening the 'bookmark.wsw' file still does!
Submitted a ticked with the file.
Ticket ID is: AOS-372700

Simon. |

Martin,
Just did a clean install of of Windows 7 Beta 1 and then installed a clean copy of WSW Beta 3 and did an Open to open my old bookmarks.wsw files.
I ran a full check and it hung after about 70 bookmarks out of 800.
Whole PC hung.
Is it worth sending you my 50mb WSW file? |

Does it happen with the internal macro system? Or with "Internet Explorer Macros"? _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Do you mean when you open the bookmark.wsw file with "File + Open". Does it crash without any further action?

I tried this bookmark in Win7 and it worked without a problem. _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Do you have a space where you could upload this file (zip or rar format)?
Since it works without problems here it would be interesting to test this file here on my machine... _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Thank you.
I think it is either a bug in Windows 7 or in IE8 for Win7.
OK, could you please try to replace the file wswie.exe in the Website-Watcher setup folder?
http://www.aignes.info/files/wswie502win7.zip
If it works, you must always replace this file in 5.0.x releases. For various reasons we cannot include it in 5.0.x, but it will be part of 5.1.0 by default. _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |

Thanks Martin, that seems to have worked a treat.
How did you fix it so fast! |

The new wswie.exe was ported to a new compiler version that works on Unicode level. This compiler will be used in WebSite-Watcher 5.1.0.
Version 5.0.x uses an an older compiler (without native Unicode support). This seems to be broken in that specific case (on Win7 or IE8 for Win7) while the native Unicode solution works. Not sure if there is another internal difference that could cause this issue. _________________ Martin Aignesberger [SUPPORT] |
