Hello,

I am currently using the Lite version and considering upgrading.

Questions about the address book:

- is there an import/export feature? In what format(s)?

- is the address book file in a known format which can be used directly in other software (Excel, dBASE, ...)?

Thanks

No, there's no import/export feature, you have to enter addresses manually.

The format is an own format (but in plain text). This might be changed into XML in a future version...

Can you document this format, or is it easy to figure out, so that one can use/create the file with an external program?

NB: I am using the Lite version curently and have no info there on the address book. Perhaps is it already documented in the full version?...

I think it's easy to figure out, but it's now on top of my list to convert it to XML in the next version.

No, it's not documented, but there's a 30 day trial period of the full version. If you have already installed the lite edition, you can change to the pro edition by clicking the ">>Try AM-Notebook PRO<<" button.

Or you press Alt+Ctrl while opening the Help menu, then you can swap between editions, too.

Hi Martin,

I purchased the full version of AM-Notebook because I liked what I could do with the lite version. I was looking forward to using the address book.
Looking at it, it is (at this moment) rather basic and it is my hope that that part of the, otherwise really excellent and very useful, program is still in its devolved stages.

I was looking for a way to back-up the data of the address book, I can't find a file with the data inside the AM-Notebook folder, to copy it as a back-up.

Is this maybe something for the wish-list?

with kind regards,

Cor

an otherwise very happy user of AM-Notebook! Smile

All configuration files are saved at:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAME\Application Data\aignes\AM-Notebook\config

If you use AM-Notebook 4.1.2, the addresses are saved under "notebook.adr".

Starting with 4.1.3 Beta-1 (see beta section), the addresses are saved under "contacts.xml"

Thank for the reply Martin, I should have read the help files more carefully before posting my question about not finding the files.

Hi Martin,

Is it possible to share the address book?
Can you manage to insert own defined fields?
We use AM notebook in a network.

no, only notes can be shared in a network. Addresses and Alarms are private for each user.

is currently not planned, probably in a higher version.
