Using the Assistant
Click the Assistant button
in the main toolbar to add a new Bookmark using the assistant. In a few steps, the assistant helps you select the appropriate configuration based on the page type.
In the first step, decide whether the web page can be accessed directly or whether it is located behind a web-based Login.
- Page can be accessed directly
A page can be accessed directly if you can open it in your web browser by entering the URL without performing additional actions, such as clicking a button or submitting a form. In this case, enter the page address in the URL field. - Page is password protected
If the page is password protected and requires a web-based Login, you must record a Check-Macro. A Check-Macro contains all required Login steps and is executed automatically when the Bookmark is checked for updates. - Page is the result of a search query
If the page is displayed only after submitting a form, for example after performing a search query, you must record a Check-Macro. WebSite-Watcher records all required steps, such as filling out form fields and clicking buttons. These steps are executed automatically each time the Bookmark is checked for changes.
After you click the "Next" button, WebSite-Watcher checks the page and initializes the Bookmark.
In the next step, select the page type. The selected page type is used as a reference for the remaining assistant steps, so that the assistant can apply the most suitable options and configurations for the Bookmark.
Steps:
1. Click the Assistant button
in the main toolbar.
2. Enter the URL you want to monitor, or record a Check-Macro for password-protected pages.
3. Click "Next" to initialize the page.
4. Select the page type, if it is not detected automatically.
5. Follow the remaining steps of the assistant.
