Ignore Cookie Banner
Automatically accept cookies
For Chromium-based and Edge-based check technologies, WebSite-Watcher can automatically accept Cookies and close cookie banners on many web pages. This automatic feature is optional. It can be enabled or disabled in the program configuration and works on many web pages. If a cookie banner cannot be removed automatically, you can use one of the following alternative solutions.
Preferred alternative solution
If a checked Bookmark displays a cookie consent banner that cannot be accepted automatically, in most cases, you can use the following steps:
Steps:
1. Right-click the Bookmark.
2. Select "Browser". This loads the page in a browser window.
3. Accept the cookies.
4. Close the window.
After the next detected update, the cookie message should no longer be displayed. To test these steps immediately, right-click the Bookmark and select "Extras + Re-Initialize bookmark".
This is the preferred method for handling cookie consent banners and should be used whenever possible.
Alternative: Cosmetic Filters
If the steps above do not work correctly, or the cookie banner reappears after a short time, you can use Cosmetic Filters to remove it from the page.
Steps:
1. Open the Bookmark properties.
2. Click "Cosmetic filter".
3. Click the Assistant icon.
4. Select "Cookie Banner". This attempts to automatically determine the appropriate cosmetic filter.
Create Cosmetic Filter manually
If no cosmetic filters are found using the steps above, create the cosmetic filter manually.
Typical steps:
Steps:
1. Click "Create new filter".
2. Enter a short word or phrase that is part of the cookie consent text, for example cookie.
3. Locate the correct occurrence of the entered word or phrase.
4. Click "Next". This searches for related CSS definitions.
5. Select a CSS definition that includes all text of the cookie banner.
6.. Click "OK".
7. Test the filter. If the cookie banner is removed, click "Add filter".
