Monitor PDF Files With a Plugin

With the included PDF-Plugin, WebSite-Watcher can extract and convert the text content of PDF files into an HTML page. The PDF file can then be checked and handled like a normal web page, and WebSite-Watcher can highlight changes in the extracted text.

The PDF-Plugin is assigned automatically when you add a new PDF document to the Bookmark list.

Monitor PDF Files Without a Plugin

If no Plugin is used to monitor PDF files, they are handled as binary files. Depending on the server response, one or a combination of the following checking methods is used:

• Check the PDF document by file date.
• Check the PDF document by file size.
• Check parts of the file content.

In this case, it is not possible to highlight text changes or to use the filter system to ignore unwanted content.
