User-Agent / Timeout

  • Use custom User-Agent
    By default, WebSite-Watcher identifies itself as Chrome. This identification can be overridden individually for each bookmark.

  • Use custom Timeout value
    Here you can override the default Timeout value defined in the program configuration.

Cookies

The Cookies configuration is only used by the internal checking technology. The technologies "Chromium", "Edge" and "Internet Explorer" use their own Cookie systems.


WebSite-Watcher supports the following methods to handle Cookies:


  • Use Cookies
    This is the default method. WebSite-Watcher uses Cookies from an internal Cookie database. To obtain Cookies for a bookmark, right-click the bookmark in the main window of WebSite-Watcher, select "Browser" to load the page and perform logins if required, then close the window.

  • Use separate Cookies
    As an alternative to the Cookie database, WebSite-Watcher can manage Cookies individually for each bookmark. The Cookies are stored in the bookmark properties and are not shared with other bookmarks.

  • Do not use Cookies
    WebSite-Watcher does not use Cookies.

GET / POST

Allows you to send a POST command to the server. This option works only with the internal checking technology. When a POST command is required, it is usually recommended to record a Check-Macro.


By default, WebSite-Watcher uses the GET command to monitor web pages. If a page requires the POST command, for example after submitting a form, you can use the tool MiniBrowser to determine the POST URL and PostData. The PostData field can also contain date variables.

Some extended commands can be used in combination with the internal checking technology.


  • Allow redirections via HTML commands
    If a web page is only reachable through HTML redirections, enable this option. WebSite-Watcher downloads the first page, scans the source code for HTML redirections, and then checks the target page.

  • Referrer
    If a page requires a referrer URL, enter the required URL here.
