Tweaks
The Tweaks section allows you to fine-tune WebSite-Watcher and to enable special features or Workarounds.
The Tweaks section uses an INI file format, but without sections, which are names enclosed in "[" and "]". Simply create one or more entries without specifying a section. Each tweak can be used only once. Changes in the Tweaks section require a restart of WebSite-Watcher to take effect.
Available Tweaks
- BrowserButtonMoveLeft=nnn

With this setting, you can move the WebSite-Watcher button, which can be displayed in the browser title bar, horizontally. nnn is the horizontal value in pixels. A positive value moves the button to the left, a negative value moves it to the right. This is useful to avoid overlapping when other programs also display buttons in the browser toolbar. - UnfocusedColorRGB=
Defines the color, in RGB format, of selected but unfocused folders and Bookmarks.
Example: UnfocusedColorRGB=ff0000 displays unfocused selections in red. - UseProxyIfUrlExists=
If a URL is entered, WebSite-Watcher tries to access this URL before the first check run. If it is reachable, WebSite-Watcher uses the defined Proxy settings from the general options. Otherwise, WebSite-Watcher uses a direct internet connection. If you place a "+" before the URL, without quotation marks, it is validated before each check. Otherwise, the URL is checked only once until you restart WebSite-Watcher. You can use only a URL that can be monitored with the internal check technology. URLs that require the check technology "Browser" do not work with this tweak. This setting is used for the HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
Examples:
UseProxyIfUrlExists=https://www.DOMAIN.com
UseProxyIfUrlExists=+https://www.DOMAIN.com - PerformCheckOnlyIfUrlExists=URL;ValidText
WebSite-Watcher checks the specified URL before a Bookmark check run is performed. The page must contain the specified "ValidText" to confirm that it is available. If the specified text is not found, the Bookmark check run is not performed. This feature is useful if you use different internet connections, for example at different locations, and want to ensure that WebSite-Watcher can connect to the internet. If you place a "+" before the URL, without quotation marks, it is validated before each check run. Otherwise, the URL is checked only once after starting WebSite-Watcher. You can use only a URL that can be monitored with the internal check technology. URLs that require the check technology "Browser" do not work with this tweak.
Examples:
PerformCheckOnlyIfUrlExists=https://www.google.com;Advanced Search
PerformCheckOnlyIfUrlExists=+https://www.google.com;Advanced Search
This example downloads the page www.google.com and starts a Bookmark check only if the page contains the phrase "Advanced Search". - BookmarkDblClickOpens=web|new
Alternative double-click operation for Bookmarks to open the online or the new version of a page. Valid values are "web" and "new". - OpenUrlInsteadOfAlternativeUrl=1
If an "Alternative URL" is entered, WebSite-Watcher opens the Bookmark URL instead of the "Alternative URL" when you open the online version of the Bookmark. - CheckSortedBookmarkList=name
Sorts the Bookmarks by name before adding them to the checking queue. - BrowserActiveTabColorRGB=
Defines the color of the active browser tab, in RGB format.
Example: BrowserActiveTabColorRGB=f0f0f0 - CreateHighlightedChangesInBackground=1
By default, WebSite-Watcher calculates and generates the file with highlighted changes when you open a Bookmark. If this option is enabled, WebSite-Watcher creates the file with highlighted changes immediately while a Bookmark is checked. This speeds up opening changed Bookmarks, but the check run consumes more memory and system resources. It is not recommended to use this tweak if you frequently re-check changed or unread Bookmarks without opening them after each check. - FolderCheckAndShowRecursive=1
Enhances the command "Check Folder and Subfolders" in the folder context menu and automatically shows Bookmarks in subfolders. - FollowLinksShowDepth=1
Displays the link depth on the right side of the Follow-Links symbols
. - SuppressInitializedInfoBar=1
Suppresses the yellow browser information bar that is displayed when you open an initialized Bookmark. - BookmarkPropertiesDefaultButton=check
Sets the "Check Now" button in the Bookmark properties as the default button. This button is used when you close the Bookmark properties with the Enter key. - CheckLocalFolderUseCreationDate=1
If local directories are checked for changes, WebSite-Watcher uses the modification date for folders. Folders are displayed as changed when files inside these folders are changed. If this option is set, the folder creation date is used instead. - ReopenTabsAfterCrash=0
If WebSite-Watcher crashes, the next start displays a dialog to reopen the last opened browser tabs. This tweak suppresses that dialog and does not reopen the browser tabs. - AutoWatchGuard=1
Checks every 5 minutes whether AutoWatch is running. If AutoWatch is disabled, it is started automatically. Useful if you sometimes disable AutoWatch and forget to enable it again. - MinAutoWatchSecondsAfterHibernation=
If an AutoWatch countdown is active when the system enters hibernation, WebSite-Watcher waits at least 15 seconds before starting the next AutoWatch check after the system resumes. This gives Windows time to reestablish network connections. Default value is 15 seconds.
Example: MinAutoWatchSecondsAfterHibernation=60 - PauseCheckIfWindowExists=
Pauses AutoWatch or a running Bookmark check if one of the defined windows is in the foreground. You can use this feature when working with a specific program or playing a game and do not want to check Bookmarks during that time. Use the Windows Task Manager to determine the window title.
Define one or more window titles separated by the ";" character. WebSite-Watcher checks whether one of the defined strings is part of the title of the foreground window to trigger a pause. All definitions are case-insensitive.
Example: PauseCheckIfWindowExists=notepad;My Game;Video Player - SendMailOnlyNewRssArticles=0
By default, the Bookmark action "Send Mail" sends only new articles of an RSS feed. If this tweak is set, all articles of an RSS feed, as shown when opening the Bookmark, are included in the emails. - SendMailRemoveWswTags=0
By default, WebSite-Watcher removes help tags for highlighting changes from emails to keep email size as small as possible. With this tweak, no tags are removed. This can be useful if you want to post-process emails and extract changes using these tags, for example wswchange1, wswchange2, and so on. - ConvertRssTitleLength=
Defines the length of article titles when WebSite-Watcher converts Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram pages to RSS feeds. Valid values are between 30 and 200. Default value is 40. - HighlightChangesExactHigh=1
Improves the accuracy of the highlight method "Excact". This tweak uses a more precise algorithm to highlight different words in similar paragraphs. This method requires more resources and may be slower. Use it only if the default behavior of the "Excact" method is not accurate enough. When this tweak is enabled, WebSite-Watcher cannot strike out filtered content. - UptimeControlFile=
Writes a control file once per minute and can be used to verify that WebSite-Watcher is running, Business Edition only.
Example: UptimeControlFile=c:\path\file.dat - AutoDeleteOutdatedIgnoreFilters=0
By default, WebSite-Watcher automatically detects and removes outdated ignore filters. With this tweak, you can disable this mechanism. Over time, this may result in very long ignore filter lists if you use the filter assistant to create new filters interactively. It is not recommended to disable this system unless you want to maintain filter definitions manually. Keep in mind that many defined filters require more resources and time to process, even if they are outdated. - HandleIgnoreUpdateAsError=1
Refers to the Ignore updates feature in the Bookmark properties. If blacklisted text is found on a page, WebSite-Watcher ignores the update and does not list the Bookmark in the Error folder or trigger a notification after the configured number of errors in a row. If WebSite-Watcher should list the Bookmark in the Error folder and trigger a notification after the configured number of errors, use this tweak. - HandleWarningWholeContentFilteredAsError=1
If a check reports the message "Warning: whole content filtered (please verify your filter settings)", it is handled as a warning by default. If you enable this tweak, this status message is handled as an error, the Bookmark is listed in the Error folder, and the Bookmark option "Notifications/Actions on Error" is performed. - QuickInsertFromWebBrowserContextMenu=1
If you insert a Bookmark via the web browser context menu, WebSite-Watcher normally shows a dialog for name, URL, and folder selection. If this tweak is set, Bookmarks are inserted into the root folder of the open Bookmark list without displaying the dialog. If a Bookmark already exists, the URL is not inserted. - UseStaticTrayIconHint=1
Displays the static text "WebSite-Watcher" as the tray icon hint, tooltip, instead of dynamically generated information about the current check or update status. - crTwitterPauseSec=
Advanced connection rule for Twitter Bookmarks. Defines the number of seconds between checks. Valid values are 0 to 600. - crInstagramConnections=
Advanced connection rule for Instagram Bookmarks. Defines the number of simultaneous connections. Valid values are 1 to 3. - crInstagramPauseSec=
Advanced connection rule for Instagram Bookmarks. Defines the number of seconds between checks. Valid values are 0 to 600. Takes effect only if the number of simultaneous connections is set to 1. - crFacebookConnections=
Advanced connection rule for Facebook Bookmarks. Defines the number of simultaneous connections. Valid values are 1 to 3. - crFacebookPauseSec=
Advanced connection rule for Facebook Bookmarks. Defines the number of seconds between checks. Valid values are 0 to 600. Takes effect only if the number of simultaneous connections is set to 1. - BlindUser=1
Optimizes the user interface for blind users.
Example:
BrowserButtonMoveLeft=100
BookmarkSort=-date_changed
