Virtual folder properties
Virtual folders contain only bookmarks that meet specific criteria defined in the Virtual Folder dialog.
Process bookmarks in folders
For each Virtual Folder, you can select which folders should be processed. By default, all folders are processed. Alternatively, you can select specific folders only.
Rules
To list a bookmark in a Virtual Folder, the defined rules must be met.
- Keywords
A bookmark is listed in a Virtual Folder if an update has been detected and at least one of the specified keywords is found within the new or changed content. If keywords are found, additional actions can also be executed, for example sending an email or permanently archiving the page to Local Website Archive.
In addition to searching in new or changed content, WebSite-Watcher also searches for keywords in the following elements: bookmark name, bookmark URL, the TITLE tag of the page, and the META tag fields "keywords" and "description".
WebSite-Watcher searches for words or phrases only. Wildcards and regular expressions are not supported. - Advanced Rules
A bookmark is listed in a Virtual Folder if the configured rules are met. If only Advanced Rules are configured, without any keywords defined, additional actions from the "Actions" tab cannot be executed. - Combination: Keywords + Advanced Rules
If both keywords and Advanced Rules are defined, both criteria must be met for a bookmark to be listed.
If you add or modify Advanced Rules, the changes are applied immediately and the Virtual Folder is refreshed with matching bookmarks. Changes to the keyword configuration are not applied immediately and are processed only during a bookmark check. To apply keyword changes immediately, right-click a Virtual Folder and run the command "Re-process virtual folders".
Actions
If specified keywords are found within new or changed content, WebSite-Watcher can execute additional actions similar to those available in the bookmark properties. A full description of these actions is available in the topic Bookmark Actions.
